1st – 7th June 2022 is Volunteers’ Week. This is a time to say thank you to the volunteers that help to make our community better. Here at the Headgate, our volunteers are the lifeblood of the theatre and we’d like to shine a light on the unseen ways they keep the theatre going.
Did you know we are a Grade II listed building? Our site on Chapel Street was built in 1844 and, as you can probably imagine, this means that there is plenty of maintenance for our premises volunteers. Keeping our stage a lovely matte black and our staircase shiny and red is no mean feat! We have a brilliant team of volunteers who maintain our building and keep it safe and smart for the public.
Our technical team work hard behind the scenes to make every performance look and sound great. Our costume group meet monthly to perform the mammoth task of sourcing and making clothes for all of our productions. Our bar team keep our patrons refreshed by making sure we always have a fully stocked bar.
Please join us in thanking the visible and invisible heroes of the Headgate. It only takes a glance at our TripAdvisor reviews to see how integral our volunteer team are.
