WORKSHOPS

During the school holidays the Headgate Theatre regularly runs musical theatre or drama workshops for those aged 8 to 16 years. Packed with fun, the workshops include the opportunity to learn performance skills, make new friends, and finish with a free performance for an invited audience.

Additionally, we set up one day or weekend events. Past workshops have covered such diverse topics as working in mask (with Vamos Theatre Company), exploring a Shakespeare text, Writing Comedy or Acting for Camera. We are currently developing our workshop programme for 2022, and are keen to hear from both facilitators and people in our acting community about topics that might provide development or be of interest in the future.

We also have plans for technical theatre workshops or talks with industry professionals and our own volunteer team will lead on site development for people registered with us as volunteers.

Mon 5th Sept 2022 - Mon 17th Oct 2022

Mondays 10.15am to 1pm Workshops for the over 50's This successful over 50’s group continues to make Monday mornings fun! The next batch of workshops before the half-term break will run from Sept 5th September - 17th October (7 individual sessions). This season, we will spend three weeks studying George Bernard Shaw's classic Pygmalion, working on different sections of the play and even dabbling with accents. This will be followed by three weeks of facilitators working on scenes from My Fair Lady (based on Pygmalion), with song and movement, as well as thinking about acting for camera. Week 7 will provide an opportunity for the groups to come together and present their work - possibly with some costume and props - who knows! Participants explore all aspects of theatre in an accessible and supportive environment while working with a variety of industry professionals. If you would like more information about the group to see if it is right for you, please email info@headgatetheatre.co.uk and we will get in touch. On behalf of The Headgate Theatre. ...
