Each hiring is underpinned by a contract, which is in two parts. The summary document which you sign contains the charges , dates, bank account details etc.
In signing this, you also agree to the terms and conditions of hire, which are known as Schedule 1 of the Hire Contract, and it is important that you read this document carefully, as it sets out the obligations of both parties to the contract.
Hirers organising events for young people are expected to have their own safeguarding policy, and procedures, and to undertake a visit/risk assessment with the theatre at the time of booking to ensure that all access and changing room requirements can be met. The Headgate Theatre does not supply chaperones to hirers. The Headgate Theatre Safeguarding Policy available here.
It is the responsibility of each hirer to establish whether their production, or individuals within it should be covered by a licence from Essex County Council. Information can be obtained from the County Council website - https://www.essex.gov.uk/Education-Schools/Schools/Pupil-Parent-Support/Pages/Children-in-entertainment.aspx
The Headgate Theatre will support promotion of a hirer’s events where it can. Details of the opportunities available and information required, as referred to in the standard conditions of hire, can be found here.
