True to form A unique and exciting venue, professionally run and with a warm welcome for all. I have seen a variety of performances, all bringing a fabulous experience to Colchester. Can't recommend highly enough. A fan of Abigail's Party over the years it was a joy to experience this latest performance. Thank you all in front and behind the scenes for a wonderful evening.

Wonderful experiences at the Headgate Theatre I’ve been to three plays at the Headgate Theatre during the past few months, Two, Blue Stockings and Abigail’s Party. All plays were performed by non professional casts but performances in them all were absolutely stunning and deservedly received standing ovations. The theatre is really well managed by Dawn and Dave King ably assisted by their administrator Katie. At all times the safety of audience and cast alike is paramount. I also attend a weekly drama group Act V which is presented by a range of outstanding facilitators. We do a wide range of theatrical activities including improvisation, script work, dance and singing. It’s always fun and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to start their week off on a Monday morning in the best possible manner! If you haven’t visited the Headgate, do so, you will not be disappointed!

Oh Yes It Was! We went to see Jack & The Beanstalk by Charlie Davison. I think it was the most fun I've ever had in a theatre. As a proper panto should be - hilarious and ridiculous in equal measure. Thumbs up to the venue, the cast, the crew and everyone involved. A brilliant little theatre.

Fabulous We visited this charming venue on Thursday 18th November for a Noel Coward Review and play. We were greeted by the most pleasant front of house staff and were shown to very comfortable seats. The production itself was magnificent; brilliant acting and a fabulous set. The review before the play was marvellous with wonderful music and singing. Excellent bar, ice cream and loos!

The Diary of Anne Frank - a great production in a wonderful space. Our first visit to the Headgate, which won’t e the last. We saw the final night of The Diary of Anne Frank. A wonderful, sensitive performance handling such an emotional piece with real aplomb. Aside from the production, how great to see a real community theatre. An interesting building and a wonderfully “cosy” auditorium. Loved every minute.

The Sound of Rogers and Hammerstein - fantastic evening Another cracking evening at the Headgate, listening to the music and lyrics of Rogers and Hammerstein presented by Platform Musicals. A lovely mixture of well known songs and some I had not heard before. The whole experience, from the lighting to the musicians ( superb!) and the singers was outstanding. So glad we have this treasure in Colchester.

Amazing production of Two by Jim Cartwright This was our first trip to the theatre since the beginning of lockdown and what a treat it was. This amazing theatre in the middle of Colchester is a gem. Home to local non-professional performances this wonderful theatre is run by a team of volunteers and trustees. Who needs the west end when you can see local productions of this quality. The actors Suzanne Webb and Forest Morgan gave wonderful performances capturing the many life stories that play out in your everyday pub. There was laughter, tears and true drama as the two switched between 14 different characters. Not only was the performance top notch but the theatre staff were brilliant extending a warm welcome from the moment we arrived. Covid secure procedures were all in place and the experience felt safe and inviting. Pre-ordered drinks and ice creams were brought to the tables and helped make this evening a very special treat. Thank to you to all cast, crew and front of house team at The Headgate Theatre for giving us all a great night out.
